Look closely: the cop (who is HEAVILY armed) is waving back to the kid. An odd…but surprising sweet…moment.

A Great Day at the Great GoogaMooga Festival!
Brooklyn’s Prospect Park was the site of the humongous, 1st annual Great GoogaMooga festival, a fantastic celebration of food, wine, beer and music (what’s not to love??). Over 75 top food vendors (including some of NYC’s top chefs and restaurants), 35 brewers, 30 wine makers and 20 live music performances, including The Roots and Hall & Oates. Beautiful weather + positive vibes = GOOD TIMES…
Inside the new, still-under construction Barclays Center arena!
NYC’s iconic Madison Square Garden will have a new, state-of-the art rival this fall: the Barclays Center, home of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets. The arena will also feature top music acts (such as Jay-Z, Barbra Streisand, Andrea Bocelli), family shows, and lots of sporting events. Recently, I was lucky enough to tour the Barclays Center…still being constructed…along with BrooklynFans.com and the Nets’ new announcer, the always-interesting David Diamante….
The Barclays Center will open on September 28 in a huge way…with a concert by Nets co-owner Jay-Z!

Cast of Broadway’s “A Streetcar Named Desire”
I was recently invited to attend a “meet and greet” with the cast of “A Streetcar Named Desire”, starring Blair Underwood (2nd from right), currently on Broadway. It was a fun event…great chemistry amongst the cast. And having seen the play a couple of weeks ago, I definitely recommend it!
Also in the play are the excellent Daphne Rubin-Vega as Stella (next to Blair), Nicole Ari-Parker as Blanche (center), and Wood Harris as Mitch (2nd from left).
Had the pleasure of photographing up-and-coming singer Maya Azucena…both backstage and onstage…at SOB’s in NYC this week! She’s been compared to Lauren Hill, as she blends her powerful vocals with a number of music genres (including soul, electronica, hip-hop and reggae). Maya has toured the world and recently performed with the legendary Roberta Flack. Maya’s beauty and powerful stage presence were a joy to photograph. See more Maya here…
“The New Yorker”
One of my riskier photos, as the subway was packed with rush hour commuters. But he had a classic New York look…and so much character in his face and beard. As a street photographer, I couldn’t resist…

“A Love Supreme”
He played old-school jazz on his sax…very John Coltrane. He provided an excellent soundtrack as I enjoyed my lunch break on the stairs behind him. This is why I love New York.
